1. Introduction to Photovoltaics and Energy Storage Photovoltaics (PV) refers to the technology that converts sunlight directly into electricity using solar panels. Energy storage systems, on the other hand, store excess energy for later use, addressing the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources like solar power.
Therefore, it is significant to investigate the integration of various electrical energy storage (EES) technologies with photovoltaic (PV) systems for effective power supply to buildings. Some review papers relating to EES technologies have been published focusing on parametric analyses and application studies.
The AES Lawai Solar Project in Kauai, Hawaii has a 100 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system paired with a solar photovoltaic system. Sometimes two is better than one.
